In this filed experiment, the college students helped us.
They are paid because the work was a official part-time job from university authorities.
The task was to "drive the car as displayed on the terminal we developed."
-----
In this collaboration with the students, I remembered my days of my student.
For students, "10 o'clock set" is "10 o'clock set".
After a long time, I felt fresh.
I was doing a same action and there was no problem. As same, the students at this time did nothing wrong.
However, for adults, "10:00 set" generally means "10:00 start".
To "start" at 10 o'clock, it's too late to "gather" at 10 o'clock.
Therefore, "to act five minutes before" is not "business manners".
It just means, "if we don't do that, we won't be able to get started."
-----
Then I should "tell them that they will meet 10 minutes ago."
No matter what I think, there is no problem for students in this matter.
We're "accustomed" to it, and we take it "naturally".
Honestly,
"We are arrogant"
I think.
Well, in fact, I didn't want to start just at 10 o'clock, so I didn't explain that.
In fact, I wasn't bothered.
It simply means that it was "fresh".
If I had a problem with this (the "10 o'clock set"), if I didn't explain it first, I would be 100% bad.
After stating the principle and correct argument, I will give some advices for students who will be working job hunting. Especially, my eldest daughter who is currently looking for a job.
-----
In the world of working people,
If you arrive at "10:01" at "10 o'clock set", it is a considerable penalty for you as a business person.
If this is done twice in a row, the image of the people concerned is the worst.
If you do it three times in a row, you won't be called to work anymore.
Applying this story to a job hunting briefing or interview, "1 minute" lateness is the same as "1 hour" lateness.
-----
What's even more scary is, "busuness persons don't pay attention to students."
To students who cannot keep the time, we don't explain the reason and we throw them away with a smile.
To student who come to the last minute of the briefing and stand behind the venue, we also throw them away.
When we have to choose a person, it is very difficult to assess a person's abilities and efforts in a single interview. It's almost like "gambling".
However, it is very easy to discard a person with a quantitative measure such as "time".
Busuness persons have no reason to protect "students who do not keep time".
And after joining the company, we don't want to do things like preaching by elementary school teachers, such as "we have to keep my time."
-----
At least, I don't want to have a special feeling
"I have to teach students the rules of society."
In the first place, I myself do not have the qualifications (personality, morals, leadership) that can tell the rules to others.
I just think, "I'm sorry for the trouble." and most business persons think the same way.
-----
In a word,
"Take care of people who behave kindly"
