昨年、私以外の家族用に、新しいプリンタを購入しました。

Last year, I bought a new printer for my family.

Brotherのインクジェット複合プリンタで、店頭などではあまり見られないメーカではあるのですが、地味に人気があり、インク等のランニングコストも安く、パソコンなしでカラーコピーが可能というので、家族が驚愕していました。

The printer is made by Brother Co, compound inkjet printer, not famous but popular in market and giving us good running cost, working without PC.

My whole family was surprised at the printer.

長女：「パパ! どうして、こんな凄いものを、もっと早く購入してくれなかったの!」

"Papa, why did you hide this wonderful device against us?"

今も昔も、学生にとって、コピー機というのが非常に重要なものであることは、論を待ちません。

Needless to say, as far as students are concern, a copy machine is very important.

しかし、私は長い間、そのような複合機を購入しませんでした。

But I had never bought the printer for a long time.

―― 何故か。

Why had I done?

私が困らなかったからです。

I didn't trouble me at all.

色々なところで拾ってきたり、貰ったりし続けてきた、我が家のパソコンたちの、スペックは、恐ろしく低いです。

PCs in my house were picked up at any places in the world, given by others. The performances of the PCs are terrible low.

具体的には、もはや、YouTubeの視聴などに耐えられるものでありません。

Concretely, the PCs have no capability of YouTube, for example.

しかし、私は色々なカスタマイズや、負荷分散の処理を組み込んで、非力な複数のパソコンを連携させながら、稼動させ続けてきました。

However, I continued exerting the PCs with customized program, load sharing process.

その代りに犠牲になったのが、ユーザビリティ、つまり「使い易さ」です。

I scarified how to use easier, so called "usability", instead.

家族は、一つの処理を行うのに、複数のパソコンを立ち上げて、複雑な手順を実行しなければなりませんでした。結局、私がいなければ、何もできないという状況になっていました。

My family except for me had to turn on several PCs at the same time, execute complex processes. After all, nobody did anything without me.

でも、私は困らなかったのです。

But I don't worry.
