しかし、これが「論文」となると、もう滅茶苦茶に遅い。絶望的に遅い。

理由は明快で『これまで、書いたことがないから』です。

学会発表用のペーパー(カンファレンスペーパー)なら、何度か(といっても数える程ですが)提出したことがあります。
