今、社会人や学生(小学生を含む)で「パソコンやスマホでメッセージ交換ができない」ということは、事実上社会的な「死」を意味します。

「子どもにスマホを与える年齢」について、色々な意見があることは知っていますし、スマホの所持は、様々な犯罪に巻き込まれるリスクがあることも知っています。

それでも、スマホは、単なるメッセージ送受信装置ではなく、ミュージックプレーヤーであり、テレビに代わるビデオプレーヤであり、そして、子どもの位置情報を把握する防犯装置でもあります。
However, a smartphone is not only a communication device, but also a music player, a video player, and a security equipment to get their accurate location information.
水道、ガス、電力、輸送と同様の「生活インフラ」です。

この「事実上社会的な「死」」の例外が、いわゆる高齢者世代です。

彼らの一部は、IT機器が使えるメリットを実感できません。
Some of them cannot realize the merit of using IT devices.
IT機器は、使ってみないとメリットを実感できないもので、メリットを感じられない以上、デメリットも理解できません。
They cannot understand the merit without using IT devices. So some of them cannot understand the demerit either.
また、デジタルサービスについても、同様です。
Much the same is true on digital services.
アマゾンもメルカリもSNSも電子メールも使ってみないとメリットもデメリットも実感できません。
Nobody cannot feel both the merit and demerit except for using Amazon, Mercari, SNS and E-mail.
