中学、高校、そして、大学においても、部活やサークルにおいて、新入生歓迎の活動は非常にアクティブです ―― というか、"狂気"といってもいいくらいです。

In junior high schools, high schools, and universities, activities for welcoming new students are very active in club activities and circles. it is almost "madness".

不思議なのは、高々、1年間だけしか在籍していない部活やサークルの為、新入生の勧誘に狂うのです。

It is strange that they are crazy about recruiting new students for club activities and circles that have only been belonging for at most one year.

その部活やサークルが存続しようが潰れようが、どうでもよかった人間が、たった一年でこの有様です。

A person who didn't care whether the club activities and the circles is going, is the result.

この現象を「仲間との絆」だの「同志愛」だの「組織への帰属感」だのと説明する人は多いですが、私に言わせれば、これらは、全て的を外しています」。

Although there are many people who explain this phenomenon as "friendship with friends" or "friendship to an organization", these are not all off target, to me.

この現象を説明する言葉があるとすれば、それは「面倒くさい」です。

If there is a word that explains this phenomenon, it is "troublesome".

彼らは、組織という名の居場所を失うことが「辛い」訳ではありません。

They don't feel hard to lose their place of organization.

1年間の時間が失われ、全く意味がなかったことになる「サンクコスト」でもありません。

It is not "sunk cost" that they lose one year's time, and they feel meaningless.

ある組織に属して、その組織のやり方について学び、組織に慣れて、ラクになってきたところで、その組織を失った場合 ―― 再度、似たようなプロセスを経て、別の組織に属し、学び、慣れることが必要となります。

If they belong to an organization, learn how to use that organization, get used to the organization, and they lose the organization, they should need to belong to another organization, learn and get used to it.

私達は、これが「面倒くさい」のです。

This is "troublesome" for us.

この「面倒くさい」を回避する為であれば、新入生の勧誘など、大したコストではありません。

If it is to avoid this "troublesome", it is not a big cost such as soliciting new students.

高々、数日間、狂うだけのことです。

At most, it's just going crazy for a few days.
