数日前、自室から出てきた次女が「熱っぽい」と告げた瞬間に、江端家は臨戦体制に入りました。

A few days ago, when my second daughter came out of her room and told me she had a fever, the Ebata family was on the warpath.

まず、LINEで家族に連絡をした後、二階のトイレを次女専用である旨の張り紙をし、速攻でDMZ(違うか)を構築しました。

First of all, after contacting my family on LINE, I put up a sign saying that the upstairs bathroom was for my second daughter only, and quickly built a DMZ (or not).

食事用のミニテーブルを次女の部屋に運び込み、ペットボトルの飲料水を、次女の部屋の中に放り込んでおきました。

I carried the mini-table for eating into the second daughter's room, and threw the bottled drinking water into the room,

「味覚障害なし」「食欲あり」とのことだったので、新型コロナウイルスの発病の線は薄かったのですが、とりあえず、隔離対策を取りました。

She said that she had no taste disorder and had a good appetite, I didn't think that she's infected with corona, however, I took quarantine measures as soon as possible.

This was a cosplay of a medical professional.

その後、次女は、市販のクスリで熱が下りましたので、今回のケースに限っては、(おそらく)新型コロナウイルスの発病ではないだろう、と考えています。

After that, my second daughter's fever came down with over-the-counter medication, so I think that this case is not (probably) caused by the new coronavirus.

大学の入学式や、慣れない授業で、疲れが出てきたのだろうと思います。

I think the university entrance ceremony and the unfamiliar classes must have made her tired.

そういう意味では、今の時期は、感染リスクが高い時期なのでしょう。

In that sense, this is the time of year when the risk of infection is high.

ともあれ、次女や長女、そして、もちろん私達夫婦も、無自覚感染の危険は常にありますので、これまでと同様に、家庭内感染予防を続けていくつもりです。

Anyway, my second daughter, my eldest daughter, and of course, my husband and I are always at risk of unconscious infection, so we will continue to prevent infection in our home as we have in the past.

ただ、どんなに注意していても、感染する時には感染します。

感染対策とは、「感染確率を下げる」だけであり「感染を防止する」ことはできないのです。

Infection control measures can only "reduce the probability of infection", not "prevent infection".

「マスクをする」ことは、感染の確率(数値)を下げているだけに過ぎません

"Wearing a mask" only reduces the probability of infection.

「マスクをした会食」であっても、会食の時間に比例して、感染確率は、時々刻々と上がっていきます ―― これは当たり前の自然現象です(数学ですらない)。

Even with "masked dinners," the probability of infection increases from time to time in proportion to the duration of the meal -- This is a natural phenomenon (not even math).

この「確率を下げる」ことは、「個人」しかできません ―― 「行政」にはできません(国民の行動を、為政者の意思によってコントロールできる国家は別)。

Only "individuals" can "reduce the probability" -- not "governments" (except for the state, where the actions of the people can be controlled by the will of the politicians).

新しい生活態様が始まるこの4月においては、多くの人の免疫力が低下しているはずです。

Many people's immune systems will be weakened in April, when a new way of life begins.
