―― 絶対的に安全な制御システムは、絶対的に存在しない

"Absolute safe control system does not exist absolutely."

私はそれを、知っています。

I know it well.

「制御システム」は人を殺します。

Control systems kill human being.

必ず殺します。

They must kill us.

「飛行機」も「電車」も人を殺しながら成長を続けてきたのです。

Airplane and trains are growing up, killing people.

「原子力」だけが、その例外であるはずがありません。

Only "atomic energy" cannot be an exception.

もちろん「制御システム」側の人間である私は、「安全」や「人命」に対する壮絶な価値観を、徹底的に植え付けられています。

I am a person who is on the side of control system, and I am hammered in fierce sense of values for "security" and "human life" thoroughly.

例えば ――

For example,

私が提案しつづけてきた『新しいシステム』は、ことごとく却下され続けてきました。

I have been rejected some "new system" that I had proposed in my company.

「江端。お前の提案する新しいシステムを、お前が『絶対に安全』と主張するのあれば、それを論理的かつ数理的に、証明し実証してみろ」

"Ebata. if you want to insist that the new system which you suggest are absolutely safe, prove and demonstrate it logically and mathematically"

これは、私たちの世界(制御システム)で、

It is said in my field "control system"

―― 悪魔の証明

"Probatio diabolica"

と、言われているものです。

『新しいシステム』は、まだ、私の頭の中(あるいは、特許明細書の実施例の中)にしかありません。存在していないものを『絶対に安全』と証明し、実証する手段はないのです(仮に存在していたとしても、それを証明する手段はない)。

The new system exists in my mind (or in the patent application), so there is no way to prove and demonstrate "the absolute safety with the existing system.

ですが、これが私たちの世界の常識で、この常識の中で、私たちは働き続けているのです。

But this is a common sense in my field, and I have to continue working in the common sense.

例えば ――

僅か、1/100秒の通信が途絶えるだけで、何もかも、全てを止めてしまうシステム

The system is going to stop anything, even if the commutation messages are cut off for 1/100 second only.

これは、原子力の話ではありません。

It is not a story of "nuclear plant systems".

私たちが通勤や通学に日常的に使っている「乗り物」の話です。

It is the story of "the vehicle" which we use for commuting and attending school routinely.

これほどの、徹底的な「安全メカニズム」を準備しても、なお、私たちの予想は、常に裏切られ続け、「制御システム」は、世界中のどこかで、常に人を殺し続けているのです。

In spite of the design effort of control systems, our expectation is always betrayed and control systems continue killing people anywhere in the world.

About my hypnosis of "absolute safe control system does not exist absolutely."

という、私の仮説への反例は、たった一つだけでいいです。

Only one counterexample is enough for me.

『年末の十大ニュースで、鉄道事故も、飛行機事故も、プラント事故も登場しない、そういう年があった』で、私には十分です。

"There is a year that no railway accident, no plane accident, and no plant accident happen in year-end news"
