ならば、一足飛びに「ネットからダウンロードできる、電子書籍専用の図書館」にしてしまえば良いのか、というと、正直、私には良く分かりません。

Even if so, I don't know whether we should jump to a digital book that enables to be downloaded from the Internet, to tell you the truth.

以前から言っていますが、現時点では、電子ペーパーは、紙の本の有効性に遠く及びません。

I said before that the effect of electric-reader is far from that of paper.

(ただし、「紙のように取り扱える電子ペーパー」が登場すれば、私の主張は、即、取り下げます)

(But when the electric-reader that is used as just paper, comes, I am going to back away from my opinion.)

それに、図書館は「パブリック・コミュニティ・スクエア」という、本の貸し借り以外の機能も果していることを忘れてはならないでしょう。

In addition, public libraries has another function that is called "Public Community Square", except for the book check-out/check-in.

私は、「知は権力である」と考えている一人です。

I am a person who thinks "Knowledge is power".

注意して頂きたいのは、私は「知は力なり」という、知識の蓄積の話をしているのではありません。

Please be careful that I don't speak about the story of "Accumulation of knowledge".

私は、「知は、人を従わせる 暴力装置としての権力である」といっているのです。

I say that "Knowledge is power as violence device to let persons obey me".

そんでもって、私は、今なお、せっせと権力基盤を築いている ―― つもりでいます。

And I intend to continue making the power without a pause.

自分や家族の為に、いつでも、どこでも、即、戦闘態勢に入れるように。

in order to get ready for a battle immediately anywhere anytime for me and my family.

図書館が武装するようになる(「図書館戦争」のこと)ことはないと思いますが、図書館が、ある種の反権力装置(国家権力のアンチテーゼ)であることは否定できないと思います。

I cannot have a image of "armed library in the future", however, I also think we cannot deny that libraries are another power as antithese of state power.

パワーバランスの観点からも、図書館を維持していくことは、必要不可欠なことだと思っているものの ――

From the viewpoint of power balance, maintenance of libraries is inevitable. however,

「図書館の未来象」というものが、私にはさっぱり見えてこないのです。

I cannot make an image of "future libraries".

いずれにしても、図書館には、ずいぶん助けて貰っています。

Anyway libraries is very helpful for me.

素直に感謝しています。
