From the President's Japanese subsidiary that handled the product, I was invited to technology meeting, and in additon, to the social gatherings.
ビールを片手に、小皿に寿司を取っていたときに、EtherCATを取り扱っている会社の営業を担当している方から、声をかけられました。
When I was taking a sushi on small plates, with beer cup in other hand, I was called to one person, who were in charge of sales management of EtherCAT products in the company.

"When I go to a customer in the business, I take hard copies of your columns"
「なぜですか」
"May I ask you "why" ?"
「いや、お客さんに説明するより、江端さんのコラムを直接読んで貰った方が、早くご理解頂けますし、なによりウケます」
"Well, asking our customer to read the Ebata-san's colum is better than explaining the technical issue of mine. They can understand EtherCAT easiler, and moreover it cracks them up."

目から鱗(うろこ)の発見でした。
The story was literally an eye-opener to me.
―― なるほど、私のコラムには、そういう使い道があるのか
"Well, my column is usable like that"
コラムなんぞは、読んだら、直ぐに忘れ去られるという性格のコンテンツです。
"Column" becomes soon forgotten, after it is read.
ですので、こういう使い方をして頂ている話を教えて貰うと、私はとでも嬉しいのです。
So, I can feel happy whenever hearing the story like the above.
