例えば、ラジオやテレビで、ある一人のスパイにしか分からないメッセージを流す、という場面とかありますよね。
There are movie scenes that some VIP person broadcasts messages to a specific spy through radio or televisions.
「本日、ロンドンエアポートは、霧です」というニュースを、テレビやラジオで流す（パタリロの「霧のロンドンエアポート」より引用）。
For example "Today London airport is in mist" for an agent on radio.
そのフレーズが、ミッションの開始命令になっている、と。
The phrase is an order to start his mission.

以前、エンジニアには「創る」と同時に「壊す」という仕事があり、それが非常に重要であるというコラムを書きました。

「ぎっくり腰」というのは、ある日突然やってきて、その発動時間は0.5秒程度です。
One day "strained back" comes suddenly, and the execution time is , I think, less than half second.
私は今、その「ぎっくり腰」の発動時間が48時間程度という、言わば「じわじわ腰」という状態に陥っております。
I am afraid that I am now "smoothy back" so called, that the executive time seems to be more than 48 hours.
日に日に状況が悪くなってきて、ついには、激痛で歩行困難になってしまいます。
The pain become worser day by day, and I cannot walk normally with the hard back pain.
「歳」というものもあるのでしょうが、基本的には仕事の量、困難さによって、発動条件が揃います。
One of the reason might be my age, but basically the execution condition is determined by amount of work and their difficulties.
このシーケンスは以下の通りです。
The sequences are followings.

(Step.2)寝返りを打つと激痛で目が覚める
(Step.2) I wake up by the pain when I roll over in my sleep.

というプロセスで、このループが回り続けると、やがて心も蝕まれていきます。
During this process, my mind become collapse soon.

私が倒れると、プロジェクトが倒れ、そして、誰も彼をも不幸にして、最悪の結果になりかねません。
I know well that, if I am knocked down, a project will also be knocked down. and final everybody is going unhappy.
大切なのは、我慢することなく、職場で「痛い」「つらい」「もうダメ」と叫ぶ勇気で、これが、結局、関係者を、「最悪」から救うことになります。
The important thing is not to endure the pain, but have a bravery to shout "pain!", "hard!" and "impossible" in your office. After all, your bravery will save all of your colleague.
私は、久々に、この切り札を切らざるを得ませんでした。

It is the continuation of the story of interview lesson the day before yesterday.
面接の技を見せる為に、私が受験生、娘が面接官の役割で、シミレーションを行いました。
In order to show the skill of interview, both my daughter and I started the simulation. I was the role of a student, my daughter was the role of an interviewer.
娘(面接官)：「最近、興味のもった時事問題はなんですか」

嫁さん：「待った。 高校生が、そんな解析作業を日常的にする訳がないでしょうが」

わずかな沈黙の後で、嫁さんが言いました。

「あのさあ、『"俺が"やらなきゃ、"誰かが"やる』を座右の銘にするような受験生を、合格させると思う学校があると思う？」
"Do you think that what school wants to pass the candidates who have such "motto" ?"
「部下が案件を隠す」と嘆いている管理職の人の愚痴を聞いたことがあります。
I heard a complaint of administrative position's person that is "subordinates try to hide their works".
要するに「部下から相談されない上司」ということです。
In short, that means, "nobody asks boss's advice"
しかし、私は、
However when I heard the complaint, I think
―― 上司が部下から相談されないなんてこと、当たり前じゃんか？
"It is no wonder that subordinates don't want to ask boss's advice"
と、思っています。

理由は簡単です。
The reason is simple.
下手に相談して、自分の進めている仕事に手を突っ込まれたら、やりにくくなるからです。
If they ask their boss about the work, it will come annoying for them to interfere with the progresses.
「時短」「生産性」を実現する上での、最上の対策は「上司からの干渉を排除する」のが一番てっとり早いです。
In order to realize "reduced working hours" or "productivity promotion". it is the best way to erase boss's interference in advance.
さらに、上司の「手の突っ込み方」にも問題があります。
In this case, the boss's "how to interfere" also has problems.
部下が進めている方向を変えないで、「アシスト」「アドバイス」に徹すれば良いのですが ―― 大抵の「部下から相談されない上司」の多くは、部下のやっていることを否定して、新しい案を出す奴と相場が決っています。
I think that the boss should "assist" or "give an advice" without trying to change works procedure, however, many of "most bosses not consulted from subordinates" is trying to deny what his subordinates are doing, and to present a new plan.
とにかく仕事を始めてしまっていて、後戻りのできないところにいる部下にとっては、自分の案と、上司の案の、どっちの案が優れているかどうかは ―― 本当にどーでも良いことなのです。
For a subordinate who has started work, and is not able to go back, they are not interested in which plan is better for their plan and their manager's plan.

When you read my column etc, you might think,
「江端は無神論者(または唯物主義者)で、UFO、お化け、幽霊(超常現象)の類は信じない人間」
"Ebata is an atheist (or a materialist), who does not believe UFOs, ghosts (paranormal) classes"
と思われるかもしれませんが、それは誤解です。
However, that is a misunderstanding.
実際に、私は、神みたいなもの(あれは「神」とは言い難い奴だったけど)を見ていますし、
In fact, I watched something like God (that was a hard to say "God"),
それに、UFO、お化け、幽霊などを体験した人(いわゆる「見える人」)を、「嘘つき」などとは思っていません。
Besides, I do not think anyone who had experienced UFOs, ghosts, (so-called "seeers"), is "liars".
むしろ、「いいなぁ」と思っています。
Rather, I think "I envy them".
チャンスがあれば、各種の測定装置を満載した旅行用のスーツケースを持参して、お会いしたいと、心から思っています。
If possible, I'd like to go to see UFOs, ghosts (paranormal) and etc. with a traveling suitcase full of various measuring devices.

When my father died this summer, I brought a futon to my father's side and I tried to sleep together.
居間の時計で時間確認しようとしたのですが、時計の時間が6時間もずれていました。
I was trying to check the time with the clock in the living room, but the time on the clock was off by 6 hours.
居間の隣りの父の寝室の時計も、時間がずれていたことを、覚えています。
I also remember the time of the clock of my father's bedroom next to the living room was out of time.
まあ、時計が停止していた訳ではないので、「時計の電池が少くなったのだろう」と思っていました。
However, they didn't stop, so I thought, "watch batteries got weak."
スマホに起床時間をセットして、その夜は父と二人で寝ました。
I set my wake-up time on my smartphone and slept beside my father that night.

2週間後、私は、相続や講座の手続で、再度帰省しました。
Two weeks later, I returned home again by inheritance and courses procedure.
その時、居間と寝室の時計の時間が元に戻っていることに気がつきました。
At that time, I noticed that the time of the living room and bedroom clocks was restored.
私は、姉が「時間合わせ」をしてくれたのか、あるいは、「電池交換」をしてくれたのだろうと思い、「忙しい中、わざわざ、時計の電池を交換してくれて、悪かったね」と言ったのですが、
I thought that my older sister did "time adjustment" or had "replaced the battery" and called her "while you were busy, I thank you for bothering to exchange the watch's batteries", however,
姉は、『そんなことは一切していない』と言いました。

it impresses others by chance.
さらに、もっと面倒くさくて大変なことを、誰かから「やれ」と言われて、
As a result, it becomes "something more troublesome and difficult" and other person also orders me to do that.
―― 「自分でやりたい」と1mmも考えてもいなかったことが、拡大再生産されていく
"What I didn't think I wanted to do" is being expanded and reproduced.
という場面は、多分誰もが経験したことがあると思います。

と愚痴っていたら、
my family said to me,
「パパくらい、強気に生きている人、滅多にいないよ」
"Few people live as bullish as you."
と、家族全員から突っ込まれました。

I remembered that I had talked about this before.
まあ、私と言えども『「自分」というのものは、他人が定義するもの』という程度の常識は備えています。
Well, even I have the common sense to say, "I am what others define me to be".
And in order for me to establish that "I am a feeble-minded person, the onus is on the party that benefits from that proof. I mean, "it is me"

大統領選挙後の世界(日本を含む)を見ていると、「世界中には、立証責任の原則を知らない人が、こんなにもいるんだー」と、思って、安心もしますが、同時に、暗澹(あんたん)とした気分にもなります。
When I look at the world (including Japan) after the U.S. presidential election, I feel relieved that there are so many people in the world who do not know the principle of the burden of proof. At the same time, it feels bleak.
立証責任は、完全な事実でなくても、自分の把握しているデータ(数字)をベースに、各種の推論から導いても良いのです。
The burden of proof doesn't have to be complete facts, but it can be derived from various types of reasoning based on data (numbers) that you have a handle on.
その推論に、多くの人を説得する為の根拠となる数値や根拠やロジックがあれば、十分です。
It's enough to have supporting numbers, evidence and logic to persuade many people of that reasoning.
別に、なんでもかんでも「マスコミに立証責任があるわけ」ではありません。
It's not that the burden of proof is "on the media" to prove anything.

しかし、「マスコミを批判する」のは、圧倒的に簡単で楽ですよね。
But it's easy and effortless to "criticize the media". It's overwhelming.
自力で電卓やらパソコンで計算もしないで、そもそも文献調査も行わずに、数秒間でフレーズ書くだけでいいんですから。
You don't have to do any calculations on your own calculator or computer, and you don't have to do any literature research in the first place. You can just write a phrase in a few seconds.
How many times have I thought, that I wanted to stop writing this columns and walk away looking good, without sweating, and just writing a critical comment for a few seconds.

私には、「私が気弱な人間である」を立証するに足る証拠を探したり、ロジックを組み立てたりする自信があります。
I have the confidence to look for evidence and construct logic to establish that I am a feeble-minded person.
ただ、その立証の結果を「どれだけの人が受けいれてくれるか」ということになると、話はまったく別物になります。
However, when it comes to "how many people will accept the results of that proof", it's a whole different story.
最大の問題点は、
The biggest problem is,
―― 弱気な人間は、自分の主張を立証するに為に証拠集めやロジックを組みたてるようなことはしない/できない
"Feeble-minded persons don't/can't do anything to gather evidence or construct logic to prove their claims"
という主張に、立ち向かえそうにない、という点にあります。
Maybe I can't stand up to this claim.
ハードウェアとソフトウェア(アルゴリズム)の進歩によって、チェス → 将棋 → 囲碁 のチャンピオンは、全てコンピュータに奪われてきました。
With the advancement of hardware and software (algorithms), the champions of Chess, Shogi, and Go have all been taken by computers.
しかし、チェス、将棋、囲碁のファンが減少しているかというと、そうでもないように思えます。
However, it seems that the number of chess, shogi and go fans is not declining.
私は、これらのゲームのトレンドについては良く知らないのですが、サブカル(コミック、アニメ、ラノベ)については、よく接しています。
I don't know much about these gaming trends, but I do know a lot about the subculture (comics, anime, and light-novel).
これらのフィールドから見ると、これらのゲームを題材としたコンテンツは、むしろ増えているような気がします。
As I look at these fields, I feel that the content based on these games is rather increasing.

考えてみれば、当たり前のことかもしれません。
Needless to say, it may be obvious.
重量上げをやればブルドーザに勝てる訳ありませんし、新幹線より早く走ることのできる人間もいません。
No one can beat a bulldozer when it comes to lifting weights, and no one can run faster than a bullet train.
だからといって、将来オリンピックが無くなるかというと、そういうことにはならないと思います。
But that doesn't mean that the Olympics will disappear in the future.
人間の能力という制約やら、努力やら、信念やら、面倒くさいアナログ属性からなる人間というオブジェクトは、それ自体が興味深いコンテンツです。
The object of human beings, consisting of the constraints of human ability, effort, beliefs, and other troublesome analog attributes, is an interesting content in itself.
それ故、そのオブジェクトとオブジェクトのゲーム対決は、それだけで、「作品」となるものなのでしょう。
Therefore, the game confrontation between the object and the object would be a "work of art" by itself.

先日、NHKスペシャル「2030 未来への分岐点 (5)「AI戦争 果てなき恐怖」」を見ました。

これは、上記とは逆に「人間を含めないと、兵器はその能力を最大限に発揮する」ということを証明する内容でした。

色々な要因がありますが、基本的に、「人間がいない戦闘機は、無茶苦茶な操縦 『人間が失神/死亡してしまうような加速度での旋回ができる』という点が大きいです。
There are many factors, but basically, "a fighter without a human being is capable of reckless maneuvering "and turning at accelerations that would cause a human being to faint or die.
つまり「無人兵器は、人間の生存限界を無視できる」ということです。
In other words, "unmanned weapons can ignore the limits of human survival.
それに比べれば、"AIうんぬん"は、小さな要因です。

さて、今日ご紹介するアニメは、「ヘヴィー・オブジェクト」です。
Well, the anime I would like to introduce to you today is "Heavy Object".
このアニメ、私の中では、「シュタインズゲート/ゼロ」に匹敵する、全私の中での最高レベルのアニメなのですが、あまり知られていません。
This anime, in my opinion, is one of the best in all of me, comparable to Steins;Gate/Zero, but it's not well known.
いわゆる数理計算、予測、その他『いわゆる』AIの技術者にとっては、こたえられない充実の内容です。
For engineers of so-called mathematical computation, prediction, and other "so-called" AI, the contents are irresistible.
また、『いわゆる』AI戦争と言われているものの、かなり正確な姿を描いている、という点でも高評価です。
It also gets high marks for being a fairly accurate portrayal of the 'so-called' AI wars.
特に、ヘヴィー・オブジェクトの第23話に出てくるセリフ ――

クラウゼヴィッツの「戦争は外交手段の一手段である」から考えれば、
In view of Clausewitz's "War is a means of diplomacy."
- いわゆるAIが、仮想空間で戦闘を行い、数秒で勝敗を決することができて、
- A so-called AI can fight a battle in virtual space and decide the winner in seconds.
- それでもケリがつかない場合は、無人兵器が現実世界で戦闘をすることで、
- And if that doesn't settle the score, unmanned weapons will do the fighting in the real world.
『人的被害がゼロの戦争』を実現できれば、それは、「AI兵器を前提とした、AI外交」みたいなことを実現できる訳です、
If we can achieve such a war with zero human casualties, then we can achieve something like "AI diplomacy based on AI weapons.

つまり、その戦争におけるヒーローは、私のようなITエンジニアとなる世界です。

最近、プログラミング言語を優劣の論じる記事が出まわっていますが、このような記事を見る度に、

"Really Ridiculous"
と、思っています。
『哲学を論じるのであれば、ドイツ語でなければならない』といった、ドイツの哲学者(名前は忘れました)がいたそうですが、世界中で、嘲笑されていました。
There was a German philosopher (I forget his name) who said, "If you want to discuss philosophy, you must speak German," and he was ridiculed around the world.
あの感じに似ています。
It is similar to that feeling.

その国にあれば、その国の言語でしゃべるのが、文明人としてのマナーです。
If you are in a country, it is a civilized manner to speak in the language of that country.
その言語が、非効率だの、使い難いだのといって、その言語を否定する人間は、"野蛮人"。少なくとも文明人とは言えないでしょう。
A person who rejects a language because it is inefficient or difficult to use is a "barbarian". At the very least, he is not a civilized person.
同様に、その会社、組織、チームにあれば、そこで使われているプログラム言語を使うのがマナーです。
Likewise, if you are in that company, organization, or team, it is good manners to use the programming language used there.
This is because the languages used there have a vast amount of assets (libraries, environment, etc.) that have been accumulated there.

プログラム言語というのは、一種の宗教とも言えます。

もし自分の信じる言語があるなら、ちゃんと布教活動をすべきなのです。
If you have a language you believe in, you should do proper missionary work.
改宗した場合のメリットを、ちゃんと定量的に評価して、客観的に示して、時々は社内工作もして ―― たまに「殉教」する覚悟も必要です。
You need to properly and objectively evaluate and show the benefits of conversion, quantitatively, and sometimes internal maneuvering -- and be prepared to be a "martyr" from time to time.
そうして、自分の都合の良い開発環境に持ち込むのが筋です ―― ラクをしてはなりません。
It makes sense to do so and bring it into a development environment that is convenient for you -- don't be easy.

「プログラミング言語を優劣を論じる記事」を読むと、その著者の視点や洞察の浅さに、げっそりします。
When I read "articles discussing the superiority or inferiority of programming languages," I am dismayed at the shallowness of the author's perspective and insight.
プログラム言語の「メリット」と呼ばれる新しい機能には、そのメリットと同程度の「デメリット」が付き纏ってくるものです。
New features called "advantages" of a programming language are accompanied by "disadvantages" of the same magnitude as the advantages.

I purchased This HDD recorder in 2013 (10 years ago) at our home.
一昨日から、30秒毎に2秒くらい停止(黒い画面)になるという不思議な現象を繰り返しております。
Since the day before yesterday, I have been experiencing a strange phenomenon where it stops (black screen) for about 2 seconds every 30 seconds.
これが、録画画面だけでなく、チューナモードでも発生するので、『HDDエラーではない』と判断しました。
Since this occurs in the recording screen and tuner mode, I decided it is not an HDD error.
HDMIケーブル、電源、NTSC全てチェックしましたが、問題はなく、さらに、その隣りに設営したNASも停止させてみたのですが、症状が改善しません。

『さすがに寿命かな』と思いました。
